| What is BMX Racing all about? BMX (Bicycle Motocross) is an exciting action sport where riders, male or female, race each other around a dirt track packed with jumps and berms. You will race against other riders of the same age and skill level. Best of all, you never sit the bench, you can compete at each event and learn at your own pace. How to get started! Bike: any BMX or Youth bike will work to get you started. Helmet: full-faced helmet required.($1 RENTALS) Clothing: Long pants, long sleeve shirt, closed-toe shoes required. Directions to Highlands County Family YMCA BMX - Avon Park, Florida Avon Park is located south of Lake Wales and North of Sebring on U.S. Hwy 27. Arriving on U.S. Hwy 27 (From the North or South) at the intersection of Stryker Road and C-17A, just north of the City of Avon Park, and State Road 64, proceed east on C-17A for 1.8 miles.
